As with all other consumer electronics, video cameras have come a long way in recent years. It all started with the Sony Portapak back in 1964. In the early '80s it moved on to the "dad cam," a shoulder-wielded video camera that recorded straight to Video 8 or various VHS formats. From there it progressed to mini-DV cameras to digital video cameras. Finally, we have the GoPro. This hand-held, pocket sized video camera can shoot at such high resolutions rates that you may not be able to tell the difference between your footage and the footage from your favorite movie or TV show. The size of the GoPro is perfect to carry around or mount on your board or helmet to get the perfect shot!
