When Bear (Bryan Soderlind) calls us up with a fun idea we can promise you the answer is always going to be YES! Bear gathered up the SpaceMob crew and had a little surprise guest up his sleeve that turned out to be MP Cunningham of the legendary show Aqua Donkeys. This trip was an absolute VIBE. The images that Bear captured of this four-day adventure will forever be classics and a reminder of the good times had. You know PB had to be on the trip as well, to just be that ace up the sleeve. Parks‘ drone skills lent a helping hand to the vibe of the video and, trust us, this video is a classic! Can’t help but give a cheers to PB for the songs too. Just wait for the last song, it’s as good as it gets.
How about them apples…I mean pie slices?!
Damn, this could not have gone to a better rider, better influence on our sport, or better person in general. All your hard work on and off the water paid off, Massi.
We had our hearts set on Massi (for obvious reasons), but it’s really inspiring to hear all of Massi’s peers rallying behind such a great rider as well.
Massi had an incredible year coming off a pretty gnarly injury, and you can tell that, as soon as he received the “clear to ride” from his doctor, Massi was ready to go to work. And, THAT HE DID!
It’s undeniable that you are a threat behind the boat and have an incredible style that continually leaves jaws on the floor when you ride, but BRUH…let’s talk about your winching and cable skills really quick. MIND-BLOWING.
These videos are always either hard to watch or addictive by nature, seeing pure carnage. Whatever floats your boat, you need to check out the edit that Spencer Norris put together for Hyperlite. Watch both street winching and boat riding get equally BROKE OFF with some sinister tunes.
“Crash & Smash is right, it happens when you push yourself in Wakeboarding and there is a price to pay for progression. Shaun Murray refers to it as the Fun Tax. Luckily for the Hyperlite Team the list of injuries during the 2019 season was minimal and manageable, going into 2020 we are healthier than years past. Looking back at all of the wakeboard fails it’s easy to see the passion our crew has for their craft. This is just a small compilation of the wrecks, smashes, close calls and miraculous ride outs from last season. You can see some tricks being developed, watch that spiny flippy thing Trever Maur is attempting. Or Rusty Malinoski pulling himself to safety mid double up and Cody Hesse riding away from kicker hits where we’d all have dropped the handle. Remember to always wear your Life Jacket and be safe while you push yourself on your next wakeboard adventure.”
This year the WWA and Nautique had 6 stops all over the world for their Wakesurf Series. The final event was this weekend at the legendary Robin Lake at Callaway Gardens, home of the Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament. The temperatures were high and the amount of money being given away was even higher. A total of $60,000 was awarded to both pro and amateur wakesurf divisions this weekend. That is not a typo. BuyWake teamed up with Hyperlite and had some of the latest 2020 wakesurfers to show those that were at the event. A few lucky people picked up some goods to take home with them. One of the highlights was seeing the new 2020 Nautique G23 in action all weekend, but for a couple of the boys here it was being able to wakesurf behind the event boat and on Robin Lake for the first time. We look forward to another great time at Callaway Gardens!
In the third installment of the Summer Ride Tour, John Akerman stopped by the shop and scooped up the van for a road trip to Atlanta. The first stop was the Liner’s house (AKA Surf Dad and Surf Mom) where the crew stayed for the majority of the trip. They were absolutely amazing hosts! The boys surfed their brains out and one of the trip highlights was John signing Gabe’s Nautique G23! After a fun stay with the Liners, they packed up the van and had a demo day with Watersports Central and BuyWake.com on Lake Allatoona at the famous Blue Cat Lodge location. John spent the day coaching up everyone that came out. One of those riders was P5 team rider Jake Borton. Jake is one the best wakesurf enthusiasts we know and he reps P5 with a passion. The boys were stoked to get to hang out with him. Final stop on this road trip was with P5 team rider Leland Watkins to surf and have a bit of foil fun. Thank you to all the friends and families that have come out and made it possible to ride some waves thus far on the Summer Ride Tour!
